Natural ventilation is an important part of ecological building techniques, it can be used to improve indoor air quality, and reduce building's energy consumption, and in the past years, natural ventilation received a lot of concentration from researchers. The drive force of natural ventilation is wind pressure and stack effect, it is influenced by local weather conditions, and it is difficult to ensure the reliability and stability of natural ventilation, meanwhile, the potential of energy saving of natural ventilation can not be predicted exactly. Consequently, there were no code, standard and potential data of natural ventilation in different climate region, which can be referenced for design of natural ventilation, so the study and application of natural ventilation is a hot and urgent topic.At the present time, the study of natural ventilation in our country is focused on the summing-up and conclusion of the theory, research meathod and research content at home and abroad, and do some research on theory and numercal simulation by constructing ecological building.The paper has a research on present natural ventilation at home and abroad, and introduced the building energy consumption software EnergyPlus and multi-zone network ventilation model COMIS, using the coupled simulation method of EnergyPlus and COMIS, in which way can overcome their own default. Taking a four-storey office building as research object, which being in design phase in Shanghai region, and establishing the building model based on it, then discussing the internal regulation between natural ventilation volume and vent area, analysing the effect of natural ventilation quantitatively in the aspects of reliability and stability, and predicting the energy saving potential of natural ventilation, on the base, comparing the difference qualitatively with different atrium height or different exhaust vent area at the top of atrium.The paper's conclusion can offer design personnel referenced standard of vent parameters with scientific basis, and can be used as basis of evaluating potential of natural ventilation, and being guidance of natural ventilation design, and it can be compared as theoretical basis, which will be used to meet the requirement of...
