| Adding a V type tip vane to the blade of the wind turbine, it affects the ambient flow field characteristics a lot. Eventually, it changes the performance of the wind turbine such as power characteristics, pressure and velocity characteristics. The above is the scale of our research. It aims to decrease tip vortexes, reduce the flow loss of the rotor and improve the output power of the wind turbine.Based on the Wilson method, a 100W wind turbine is designed by ourselves. By employing this wind turbine, we do lots of experiments in B1/K2 wind tunnel to investigate the dynamic augmentation rules of adding a tip vane to the blade. First, we measure and demarcate the inflow uniformity in the open test section of the wind tunnel. Second, we compare the wind turbine performance with and without tip vanes. In one hand, we seek to find out the changing rules of CP when the speed ratio changes constantly. Meanwhile, we'd like to make the affections on start-up velocity, yawing characteristics, rotation speed and output power by adding a tip vane to the blade clear. We also analyze the advantage and the disadvantage of this technique. In another hand, by changing the length and width of the tip vanes following by varying the forward pitch angles and the backward pitch angles, we get the related dynamic augmentation rules with the tip vane parameters. The experiment shows that in certainvelocity scale the tip vane does good to the dynamic augmentation of the output power. However, at high speed wind the conclusion is adverse. Hence, the paper provides the reference to further study of the tip vane. |
