In the past ten years, the water mist extinguish system which can substitute the halon agent is being researched by the international security organization. The paper is telling about the research of the high pressure water mist nozzle used in the marine fire field, the aim is to explore high pressure water mist nozzle suitable for marine field.The necessity of developing the marine water mist extinguish system in China is expatiated in the paper. According to the MSC/Circ.913 regulation,the test system and fire model was set up , series of high pressure marine water mist nozzles were designed by the 3D software. Therefore, the total test and research scheme for high pressure marine water mist nozzle were summarized. The nozzle's spray characteristic were measured and analyzed by laser granularity instrument. The suitable high pressure water mist nozzle for marine fire was designed through contrast analysis. All kinds of methods such as Uniform Design,Orthogonal Design and excel table ,were used to classify and trim and to regression analysis and ingredient target analysis the fire test data.As a result the high efficiency R&D test procedure for the high pressure water mist nozzle were summarized,which provided an available method for experimental study on water mist extinguishing system and drew a conclusion about the spray character for the marine high pressure water mist nozzle, together with the analyze of the effect when every parameter changed to put out a fire. And, in addition, which was proved by experiment that the water mist has well electrical insulation performance. All of these will play a positive role in the engineering application for water mist system.
