City residence have the characteristic of high density of population, high building plot ratio and low green rate, the situation insufficient in area of per capita outdoor sports .This paper bases on researching the city residences and analyzing their information, the disadvantages (such as stiff road space, tedious landscape around the roads of city residence, etc.) on the design of roads of city residence and surroundings in current China are found. So, making the roads of city residence and surroundings conformity, and optimizing design them are put forward. In this way, stiff road space, tedious landscape around the roads of city residence will be reformed, comfortable space will be created.After researching more 20 city residences in Nanjing, and consulting the datum and the reference, how to optimize design roads of city residence and surroundings are discussed in this paper .Chapter one analyzes the character of people out-of-doors, requires in action and action-space in city residence, in order to find the right actions around the roads and design the comfortable surroundings around the roads.Have analyzed the disadvantages (such as stiff road space, tedious landscape around the roads of city residence, etc.) on the design of the roads of city residence and surroundings in current China, and researched the successful examples, Chapter two brings award severalmeasures to improve the surroundings of the roads of city residence. Firstly, closing—— for theopen roads; secondly, building the not-symmetrical roads to make the surroundings of city residence active; thirdly, the various design ways of interface around the roads; fourthly, designing the borderline of the roads of city residence and surroundings and optimizing streamline of the roads, to build the rich landscape in the roads of city residence and the surroundings .Thinking over the optimized design means in Chapter two, Chapter three surveyd a few city residences in Nanjing, and realized the design means and the effect on their using.There are 31, 000 words and about 200 iconographs in this paper.
