Development Of A New Multifunctional Device For Testing Linear Shrinkage And Stress And Heat Check Of Cast Alloy

To test solidification characteristics of various casting alloy accurately is very significant for optimizing casting technique and getting castings with sound property and appropriate dimensions. But the instruments of testing heat check, stress and linear shrinkage of casting alloy at present are not only inconvenient in operation but also unitary in function.A new multifunctional device for testing linear shrinkage, stress and heat check of casting alloy easily and quickly is developed in the paper. It mainly consists of location unit, unloading unit, sensor set, molding unit and data acquisition and processing unit and so on. The location unit is used to locate and transform the testing function and the unload unit can unload stress easily by means of guide screw. The design of the sensors on a small barrow not only meets the request of testing three parameters together, but also improves the testing precision. The flask of the molding unit includes a cope and a drag and by making use of the same mould and flask and replacing the different model the different parameters can be measured by the device. All the data are acquired by Adam modules and processed by PC under the control of central management program designed by VB. The new system can be operated conveniently and can run stably during testing because of adoption of innovative mechanism and industrial computer.In this paper the design methods of every unit are introduced in detail and the experiment results of linear shrinkage, stress and heat check got by the new device are presented.
