Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) Arch Dam is a new type dam which have developed gradually from the late 1980s of the 20th century. It came from which engineers used the RCC technique for arch dams after the RCC Gravity Dam had been built extensively. With the development of the RCC technique, RCC Arch Dam has been built more and more in China and abroad, and developed to higher arch dam. Many problems in designing and construction need more investigation. The progress of a new engineering structure requires not only the improvement of new material and new technics, but also new theory or calculation ways which suit to the improvement. The impact of the roller compacted joints to the RCC arch dam is a important item contained in the RCC theory of building dams. Combined with the Wanjiakouzi RCC Arch Dam built in Yunnan province which is the highest RCC Arch Dam in the world at present in this paper, the author will mainly do the following research work:1. Combined with the real circumstance of the construction site, I conclude the causes which can result in the roller compacted joints in the dam and the factors which can influence the intensity of the roller compacted joints from the character of the RCC material.2. Based on the whole finite element model calculation, the author chooses the lower part (▽ 1324m~▽ 1325m) of the dam to focus on studying the impact of the formation and intensity of roller compacted concrete layer surface on the...
