The highway construction is at the rush period presently in our country,some highway constructed in early years is now in the course of road maintenance and reconstruction, By the former means, a mass of old pavement materials will be produced during the course of the road-maintained and reconstructed. As a result,not only the resource would be wasted,but.also the environment would be polluted.Therefore,the new technique is in deep need. The recycling technique of old asphalt mixture has been applied extensively in some developed countries and is just come into use in our country. This paper primary investigates the technique of recycling lime soil-base and oil-treated surface pavement.The physical and mechanical properties of the raw materials and the gradation of recycled mixture are studied respectively in this paper by means of indoor experiments. The primary mechanical indexes of the recycled mixture are tested, including the unconfined compressive strength, theresilient modulus and the cleavage strength. The changing laws of these indexes are related to the additive types,the additive content and the aged-period. And the relationship of each index is established. Furthermore,the water-resisting property, the frost resisting property, the dry shrinkage property, temperature contraction property and fatigue property are investigated. And the relationship of each road performance with the additive types,the additive content is analysed roundly.It proves that the road performance of cold-recycling mixture is better than the ordinary semi-rigid material by contrast.The cold in-place recycling machine and constructing technics are also developed in this paper.And this paper demonstrates that the cold-recycling techenique is feasible and applicable by testing project.At last,the paper comprehensively evaluated the benefit of economy and society .The research indicates that cold in-place recycling of the old asphalt mixture is feasible and applicable for highway maintenance and reconstruction and should be applied extendly in actual project.
