Therefore, it is very important to enforce the research about the protective technology of washout by flood of the highway along river in mountain area.the paper depicts the basal instances and central characters of washout by flood of the highway in Shannxi province, and analyses the natural environmental factors and engineering geological characters in Qinba mountain area. The paper researched the scouring mechanism of subgrade river side and the protection experiments. Then, the concludes was supplied and consummated by the locale investigation and reconnaissance.According to the research, the thesis gained the conclusion of the environment factors washout by flood of mountain road along river. The factors are: rainfall, geology and physiognomy, river characteristics, vegetation status and so on. The main causations of washout by flood are: the pavement height being low, construction condition, an insufficiency of maintaining financing. The principia of prevention and cure countermeasure of washout by flood is giving priority to prevention and uniting prevention and cure. The prevention and cure countermeasures should be taken measures in scientific study, engineering countermeasure and general prevention and cure.Aimed at the character of spot in Qinba mountain area, this paper researched the character of stream of mountain area and the rule of scouring in curving stream way. Using the hydraulics theory, the paper analyzed the protective mechanism of slope protection, retaining wall, apron and spur dike. And combining the experiments and investigation, the paper brought forward the design methods of different protection work and the design parameters even as suitable condition.
