City or town relocation and engineering facility investigation research in the Three Gorges reservoir area is an important comprising part of the Three Gorges human settlement environment science. Relocated city or town engineering geologic environment changes, brought by Yangtze River water-level changes in 10 years, sets higher request for engineering facility construction, which is not only related to urban safety but also linked with many aspects such as urban landscape and ecology. This thesis in the system of human settlement environment science discipline comprehensively makes use of urban science, engineering geology, typology and ecology, explores approaches to achieve comprehensive benefits in engineering facility construction under new geologic environment and aims at facilitating harmonious and healthy development of the Three Gorges human settlement environment.Chapter 1: introduction. Introduction, the theoretical part of the whole paper, explains this research's necessity and outlines the essential logical framework by analyzing reality and theoretical context.Chapter 2 is the macro material context research part of the whole paper. This part systematically analyses the relationship between human settlement environment and explains human settlement environment problems and significance of engineering facility research introduced by reservoir area relocated city or town geologic environmental evolution brought about by the three phases of the Three Gorges, that is, before pooling water, presently pooling water(10 years) and after pooling water.Chapter 3 is the middle-system investigation part. This part refines problems through investigation and recognition of relocated city or town engineering facilities and from the angles of the public and urban governance sector and introduces four subsystems including road, architecture, large-area side slope and new shore-line.From Chapter 4 to Chapter 6 is the micro subsystem research of the whole paper.
