The engine test-bed based on the AC dynamometer is the important equipment in engine performance experiment, may complete the engine power, characteristics test and so on. Therefore, the study of the engine controlled and tested system based on the AC dynamometer has the important project application significance and the commercial value.This article in detail discussed the hardware establishment and the software design of the engine controlled and tested system based on the AC dynamometer. This system take the industry computer and the programmable controller as a control core, step-motor, the frequency changer and the AC machine does for the execution, matches by the sensor and its the periphery connection electric circuit, formed a pair the closed-loop control system. The system uses the exchange frequency conversion technical control dynamometer work, provided the load or absorbed energy for the measured engine. And the engine accelerator controlled function realized by PLC direct control step-motor technology. This system can complete the engine rotational speed and torque high accuracy control and the test, also engine temperature, pressure, oil consumption parameters survey.The system basis fuzzy control theory and the AC dynamometer control principle, carried on fuzzy control technology introduced to the AC dynamometer, realized this function through the software. The software has the engine and the AC dynamometer data collection, the computation and the output of AC dynamometer control parameter, edition and curve processing of the measured data, and test report production and printing. The software can complete each parameter determination which the engine test needs.An experiment was taken after the system development, and the results showed that the system met the anticipated requirements.
