Pervaporation is a new development on membrane separation technology. It has many advantages, such as high efficiency, good security, no introduction of other chemicals, compact system and equipments, cheaper maintenance, and easy system scale-up. Pervaporation can be superiorly applied to separate some liquid mixtures, which consist of azeotropic components and are hardly separated by traditional separation methods. Pervaporation has been thought as one of most promising membrane process technology. However, there are still many problems to need to be solved for its wide application on industries.Researchers of the world have published a number of literatures on pervaporation. The study subjects include membrane materials, structures and modules, process principles and kinetics, plants and system, and so on. We developed a composite PDMS membrane for pervaporation separation of hydro-organic mixtures in our laboratory, and achieved a series of researches with the membrane. In this work, a new plate-frame module for pervaporation was configured by integrating the rectangular flat PDMS composite membrane prepared in our laboratory into a rectangular membrane module with thin-layer channel. The module offered a hydraulic structure of one dimensional flow. Pervaporation behaviors of the system were experimentally studied with aqueous methanol, aqueous ethanol and...
