With the development of vehicle technique and highway, and the increasing of vehicle velocity, the aerodynamic force become more and more notable, and the requirement of control stability security and inhabited comfort are higher than before. Especially with the lack of word energy source and the increasing of oil price, how to improve the economic character of vehicle fuel turns to be the most important article. Wind tunnel is the traditional method of aerodynamic research of vehicle, while it is not suitable to develop the more comfortable and economical vehicle, because some disadvantages exist, such as long research period, much money is needed, jam effect and road effect. With the rapidly progress of computer technology and computational method, numerical simulation provides a new tool to the aerodynamic research of the vehicle.CFD (FLUENT software) method is used to calculate the 3-D flow field around the truck (EQ1118GA) for the first time in this paper.Firstly, this paper testify the results of simulation with FLUENT software by calculating the exterior flow field around the Ahmed model, and study the factor which would be affect the result.Secondly, this paper builds the geometry model of the truck and design four different taggers on the cab and other aerodynamic attachment devices in CAD software. And then the numerical simulation of aerodynamic on the CFD model is conducted in FLUENT software.Finally, characteristic of airflow around the truck model can be acquired from the simulation. Based on the results, it is helped to analyze the mechanism of external flow, the relationship between flow characteristic and aerodynamic drag, the main reasons causing aerodynamic drag, and provide basic reference to the reduction of truck aerodynamic drag. The aerodynamic attachment devices can greatly improve the streamline of the truck without changing its main structure. The optimized aerodynamic attachment devices will be the best choice on the truck (EQ1118GA).
