More than 90% faults occurred in power system high-voltage transmission lines are single-phase-to-ground faults, and mostly temporary, the system adopt the single-pole auto-reclosure to eliminate the faults. The single-pole auto-reclosure is one of the effective measures to enhance the power system stabilization and the power transmission capability, but the persistent combustion of the secondary arc at fault point hinder the measure realization, therefore self extinction smoothly of the secondary arc is a necessary condition for single-phase auto-reclosure successful. For this reason, we should try to reduce the parameters (secondary arc current and recovery voltage). On high voltage transmission line, the current in faulted phase, which keep on provided by capacitively coupled and inductively coupled between faulted phase and non-faulted phase, is called the second arc current after the line fault has been isolated. Because of the self extinction speed concerned with the secondary arc parameters, this paper utilizes PSCAD simulation software to analyze capacitance and inductance under influence of different conditions and factors by using different compensation modes, to calculate parameter values. It is necessary to estimate arc-quenching condition and choose corresponding compensation. With augmenting power grid transmission capacity, the series compensation technology will be adopted in general use. Series compensation changes the characteristic of the parameter distribution evenly of the original transmission line. It also changes the parameter of the secondary arc. After both sides switches have tripped, residual charges in faulted phase series compensation may repeated...
