| To enhance the transmitting capability and solve the problem of voltage stabilityand reactive power compensation, the series/parallel compensation scheme of UHVtransmission lines was presented based on the distributed parameter model of longdistance high power transmission system. With regard to the relationships between seriescompensation and parallel compensation, the compensation capacity and installationpoints were finally found by using series/parallel compensation iteration steps. Thetransmission environment should be considered when calculating corona loss, and theresults will be more accurate. The line parameter conductance was modified based onthe given formulas of corona loss. Finally, transmitting capability was effectivelyenhanced, availability of the scheme and necessity of considering transmissionenvironment were proved by the computation and analysis of a transmission lines. Somethoughts were also provided for the studies of controllable compensation.
