In order to raise the efficiency of software development and increase software's ability to process the changes of needs and conditions, people have been exploring all kinds of reusable methods and ideas in the course of software development. The idea of platform + plug-ins is mature and has been recognized for its reusability and openness, which makes it be widely used in plenty of famous software. The Data Processing System (DPS) is one of the most important systems in aerospace engineering. Most of subsystems of DPS for different spacecrafts may have similar functions. If all of them are designed and realized repeatedly, the efficiency of project development must be depressed. However, these subsystems are designed without considering the reusability in the past, they can only be used for special spacecrafts. In order to accomplish extensible and reusable DPS software, the solution to use platform + plug-ins idea to the design of DPS is proposed. In this paper, the functions of DPS and reusable technology and ideas appeared before are introduced first, then a subsystem of monitor and control (one of subsystems of DPS) using platform + plug-ins idea is designed and realized, including its platform and all the plug-ins. In this course, we find the fact that the definition of interface is the most important for us to design software with this idea. Finally, this paper reaches the conclusion that the software designed with platform + plug-ins idea has better ability to process the changes of needs and conditions. The monitor and control subsystem is implemented in the Chang E project as a part of DPS, which proves that platform + plug-ins idea can be used in the DPS.
