The metal rigid frame structure bears most of the weight of the escalator. Considering the safety factors, enterprises tend to select excessively the bigger safety modulus in the structure design. Now more and more escalators are fixed to use. As a result, excessively bigger safety modulus causes the waste of the rolled steel. Therefore, it is quite necessary to optimize the escalator's metal structure.In virtue of ANSYS8.0, the finite element analysis software, the thesis has made analysis and optimum design of the escalator's metal rigid frame structure. First, the geometrical modal and the meshed geometrical modal are built in ANSYS. The result of the structure under load is got by static analysis. In allusion to the specialty of deformation, it resolves the main factors which influence the distortion of the metal rigid frame structure with theoretical analysis. Based on reliable analysis result, it puts forward the improvement methods about the form and material of the metal rigid frame structure. Second, the thesis applies prestressed technology to the optimum work of the escalator's metal rigid frame structure. Two methods are chosen in order to put pre-stress on the metal rigid frame structure. The last but not the least, it provides the optimization analysis by using the ANSYS's advanced structure analysis function. The volume of structure is set as an objective variable and the section parameters are set as design variables. The max deformation and the max stress are set as state variables.It is made clear that the method of putting on pre-stress leads to less structure distortion and better interior press improvement. Under the same weight, the rigid frame structure with the use of pre-stress can be replaced by materials of smaller section areas so that steel is saved. In addition, by integrating the results of optimization and the standards of steel materials, it provides the most suitable section form. The thesis puts forward all possible improvement projects for rigid frame structure so that the theoretical basis is provided for enterprises to improve the structure of escalator.The thesis, based on former study fruit, brings forward new creative ideas as the following:1. For the first time the prestressed technology is applied to the escalator's rigid frame structure.2. With the use of ANSYS parameter language is designed to analyze and establish macro in escalator.3. By using the advanced function of ANSYS, the best optimum analysis is made and the best section parameter comes out.
