The steel tube-confined concrete has a good plasticity because of the steel tube. It can be well used in the structures of highways and other facilities. So, the response of STCC under the impact load is worth researching.The paper based on the STCC with round section includes the impact test and numerical simulation of ANSYS/LS-DYNA on STCC whose impact position is in the middle and shows the impact resistance of STCC.The impact test, which uses the drop stamp as the impact load of the round member with the span of 1200mm and diameter of 114mm, which have different tube wall thickness and yield strength, shows the factors which influence the impact resistance of members through the result of the curves of displacement and impact time-history force.In the numerical simulation, a numerical model has been established using the FEM software ANSYS/LS-DYNA.
