The paper discusses a kind of non-contact vertical laser measuring instrument, which is based on measuring principle of laser triangle. In the scheme, semi-conductor laser is used as the light source, and position sensitive detection (PSD) is used as a sensor. Grating is used as measuring system. Data collecting and processing system is composed of single chip and computer. The incident light occurs scatting on the measured surface, then imaged on the photoconductive surface through optical system. Because of good corresponding relation between moving of image point and length change of measured object, the mathematical pattern is established on the relation between moving of image point and length change of measured object. Through analysis of image point change, the variability length of measured object is achieved.The paper involves optics, laser, grating, moire stripe, photo electricity sensor technology, precision mechanism, electronics, automatism control system and computer. The instrument has many functions. High precision and non-contact measuring is the characteristic of the instrument .It also has wide application foreground.
