The noise-eliminating technology for submarines and warships advanced rapidly. So, in order to realize long distance detection, reliable tracking and accurate hit for enemy targets, It inevitably demanded improving detecting distance for underwater acoustic detecting system mounted in underwater Vehicle (UV). The most basic techniques for improving detecting distance for underwater acoustic detecting system were adopting broadside arrays with broader aperture and lower frequency, and producing signal processing machine of higher quality. It was a valuable subject for discussion how to restrain spatial noise and interfering distributing around the broadside arrays, and how to improve the technique for underwater acoustic signal processing. So, beamforming, higher resolution method and array error calibration for broadside arrays became important research contents.The existing study indicated that higher-order statistics has prominent quality. We can use these characters to restrain uniform or discrete distributing gaussian noise effectively, and extract non-gaussian noise. There was much study, on higher-order statistics in recent years. So, it's a well base for joining array signal processing with higher-order statistics.The thesis focused on array signal processing and higher-order statistics, research contents and results were listed as below.1. Studyed on conventional beamforming and null steering. Put forward a beamforming method named Higher-order Cumulant Beamforming which is based on using higher-order cumulant to pre-process signal. The method not only make use of coherent to pile up signal, but also use the higher-order cumulant of gaussian noise equal zero to restrain gaussian noise. Accordingly to obtain higher array gains.2. Studyed on 4th Order Cumulant MUSIC. In order to further advance resolution capability, join it with beam space method. During study, put forward Beam Space 4th Order Cumulant Slice MUSIC and Pseudo Beam Space 4th Order Cumulant Slice MUSIC. Theory analysis and simulation results demonstrated that: compared with methods of same kind in element space, methods referred in front have good performance. These are valuable methods.
