Numerical calculation and simulation of electric field plays very important role for designing, researching and developing the electric equipment. Among the common numerical calculation methods, charge simulation method has been widely applied in insulation analyses of high voltage apparatus for its advantages of high precision and effectively solving the electric field with unbounded cases. But the precision is largely depended on the artificial experience for allocating the relationship between the contour points and simulation charges. For solving the above problem, an optimized charge simulation method has been proposed, and the allocation of the relationship can be realized correspondingly. In order to reduce the variables, the position of the charges is located based on the geometric contour, while only the quantities of the simulation charges are taken as the optimized variables. So, the quantity of the optimum variables is reduced to one third, and the multivariable optimum problem can be effectively solved. In this thesis, the proposed charge simulation method has been applied for solving the electric field for sphere/plane, sphere bar/plane electrodes and the interrupter of 12kV vacuum circuit breaker. The calculation accuracy satisfies the engineering requirement. Moreover, improved simulated annealing (SA) is presented for improving the convergence speed. In optimizing, heating-up SA is used in the selection of initial value and memory device is applied to storing the optimum solution. Accordingly, the improved SA is employed to optimize the floating electrode of the vacuum interrupter, and the distribution of electric field with different opening stroke have been obtained and figured out. From the application of the demonstration examples and the comparison analysis of the improved SA and the manufacture model, the computation of the inverse problem of the electric field has been implemented.
