In 1982,the State Council examined and approved the Jianmen Shu Road as one of China's first key scenic spots,and the Qiqushan Temple, an important scenic spot in Zitong County,Sichuan Province,/s its starting point.The ancient architectural complex of the Temple,which covers an area of more than 13,000 sq.m. and a floor space of 6,000 sq.m.,constitutes the Wenchang Palace and the Guan Yu Temple.The architectural complex,composed of 23 buildings of various periods,displays completely the architectural styles of dynasties from Yuan to Republic of China,and it is a valuable objective material on the study of ancient China's architectural history.In November 1996, the Qiqushan Temple was approved and classified by the State Council as one of China's major historical and cultural sites under state protection.However,as the local government began to exploit the Temple's tourist resources,the human destruction over the ancient buildings was sharpening step by step. At the same time,the natural factors such as wind and rain,thunder and lightning,termite,beetles and other creatures interacted,and they had had a corrosive destruction over the buildings.Therefore,it is extremely urgent and imperative to have a systematic protection and study on these buildings in the Temple.lt is a valuable work and has a far-reaching significance.By means of on-the-spot investigation,mathematic,logic,and historical analysis etc.,the writer of the paper will firstly look for and analyse the destructive factors over the buildings in the Temple and put forward its protective principles.And then, the writer of the paper will, in the protection of these buildings in the Temple,elaborate the favorable advantages between human preservation and natural preservation of the buildings,and work out the specific protective planning and fire-fighting measures to prevent human destruction and put forward physical and chemical preventive and curablemeasures and feasible wooden-style maintenance technology to prevent natural destruction.And lastly, the writer of the paper will raise some specific restoration plans of the main ancient buildings inthe Temple.In a word, through the study on the protection of the buildings in scenic spots of the Temple, the writer of the paper hopes that these buildings will be protected in their development and developed in their protection,and that they can play a positive role in the regional economic.social and ecological development.
