Displacement-based seismic design is one of the important methods of the performance-based seismic design, but direct displacement-based seismic design is the most promising due to its clear thoughts and simple methods. This paper has analyzed the deficiency of the current seismic design code design as well as the problems in the recent earthquakes, recalled the development and the present situation of the performance-based and displacement-based seismic designs, systematically summarized the theory frames of the displacement-based seismic design, put forward RC frame-wall direct displacement-based seismic design and has some exploration of its appliance with its main contents as the following:This paper has analyzed the deformation character, lateral displacement elements and lateral stiffness of RC frame-shear wall, raised that the displacement influencing its performance objectives is storey tangent drift ratios, and obtained the position which firstly achieves the displacement limiting value through continuous methods. This paper has proposed the convenient RC frame-wall direct displacement-based seismic design, applied it in a 10 RC frame-shear wall building, also had space pushover analysis with tremendous FEA software SAP2000n, and finally assessed the seismic resistance performance and level of the structure.
