It is necessary to analyse the mechanical response with complicate load to attain precise result because the need for structure security is higher. And the method of shakedown analysis has presented an effective path to study the mechanical response with complicate load. Though there are a lot of shakedown analysis methods at the present time, it is complex in theorems and application. So seeking methods of effective and precise and easy application become a necessary shakedown developing direction.The shakedown concept is gone into particulars. The research actuality and existing issue of shakedown is expounded. Shakedown analysis methods in existence is summarized and classified expounded. Furthermore, insufficiency of these methods are pointed out in the paper.The shakedown analysis method based on concept of plastic work and energy are narrated in the paper. The basis and practical execution in skeletal structure shakedown analysis is discussed. The energy method is applied to two-dimensional massive structure. By two typical example validate the feasibility of energy method in two-dimensional massive structure and some conclusions are drawn. Then the energy method of shakedown analysis is extended from two-dimensional massive structure to three-dimensional massive structure. Different load case is discussed in three-dimensional massive structure shakedown combined with the example. The conclusion of different load case must be taken into account in the ascertain of shakedown domain is educed.
