In the earthquake isolation of buildings, normally earthquake isolation devices are settled on the top of the foundation, and it is called base isolation. With the development of this technique and deeper insights into the research and application, its shortcomings, which have limited the techniques of earthquake isolation, begin to emerge. The focus of this paper is to research into an earthquake isolation method, in which earthquake isolation devices are set between the stories of building. This method is called as Interlayer seismic isolation, which is a new development of earthquakes isolation technology. In this isolation system, the flexible laminated rubber bearings are inserted between the floor and the column to control seismic response. There are many differences between this system and base isolation system, roof isolation system. The article firstly states the mechanical property and analytic model of rubber bearing, and deduces mechanical differential equation, then taking a shear-frame structure as an example, the article analyzes the vibration reduction results of two interlayer seismic isolation systems by using ANSYS structure program. The results tell us that interlayer seismic isolation system is effective especially to sever earthquakes. It is easy to be constructed, and is an attractive way to reduce structural seismic response.
