Composite foundation is widely applied in the ground treatment, but its theory is notcompleted. The stability of foundation is analyzed by using of reliability theory.Firstly, design models of the bearing capability of composite foundation are summarized.The models contain rigid pile,flexible pile and discrete material pile. Secondly, withstochastic field model, reliability probabilistic analysis models of bearing capability ofcomposite foundation, is established. Thirdly, the parameters of the models are classified. Therandomness of these parameters, such as geometry parameters,soil property parameters,loadeffect parameters , design parameters and reinforcement parameters of the compositefoundation,are analyzed. Fourthly, JC method is used to calculate reliability index. The JCmethod can solve reliability problems with non-normal distribution variable,multi-variableand non-linear limit state functions. A program to calculate reliability index of foundation isworked out by Visual Basic 6.0 in Window's environment.The program is simple and convenient to be operated. Through engineering examples, theeffect of reliability index, for instance the replacement ratio, the mobilization coefficient ofsoil among piles strength and variability of random variable is discussed. Some conclusionsare summarized and some suggestions are given for reliability design of foundation.
