| The dissertation firstly introduces developing actuality and direction of HVDC transmission electric technology in home and oversea. In view of easy error action of travelling wave protection, the dissertation analyzes primary reason and imports new protection theory and mathematics tool. Then the dissertation brings forward two kinds travelling wave protection schemes and puts up simulation study. On the basis of detailedly introducing mathematical morphology, the dissertation analyzes noise of travelling wave signals and the new filter based on mathematical morphology is brought forward to filter noise;mathematical morphology gradient technology is used to reflect the saltation characteristic of travelling wave signals. The dissertation introduces a whole suit of travelling protection schemes. In last part, the dissertation study travelling wave fault location of HVDC transmission lines, and brings forward single-terminal fault location new algorithm based on pattern recognition. The method effectively eliminates the influence of disturbing signals. The simulation result shows that the travelling wave methods based on mathematical morphology can reliably act: the theory is simple and is easy to come true, the algorithm of fault location can well and truly confirm fault location.
