Dalian LNG pipeline engineering is an important project of China. The geologicalconditions are very complex and the geological hazard genres are various in thesection from Dalian to Yingkou of the engineering which is 258km in length. Throughthe assessment, the developing rule of geological hazard along the pipelines can beknown and the possible damage to the pipelines can be forecasted. Those can offerwarranties to the protection of the pipelines. Therefore, it is not only very importantfor construction and management of Dalian LNG pipeline engineering to study andassess the geological hazard danger along the pipelines but also can be used forreference by other similar linear engineering. Moreover, it is a useful attempt to applythe extension theory to the comprehensive assessment of geological hazard danger. Firstly, the geological background of assessment area is investigated and thegeological hazard genres and their conditions and influence factors are found out. Onthe base of those, twelve assessment indexes, such as the density and the scales ofgeological hazards, tectogenesis, humane engineering, and their assessment standardsare put forward in the thesis. Secondly, the assessment area is divided into 64 units,and the geological hazard danger of each unit is assessed with the extension method.Finally, the pipeline engineering area is zoned comprehensively according to theassessment results. Through comparing the assessment results by extension method with ones by thequalitative analysis, it is shown that the two assessment results are similar butindividual units. Furthermore, the tendencies of the assessed danger degree can alsobe got according to the results with extension method, which makes us know thedanger more detailedly.
