The irresistible globalization has aroused some doubts and debate on contemporary architecture. While over-paced modernization is inevitably creating loss of cultural identity, architects in China are now paying more attention to traditional architecture design philosophy. The concept of local distinction is hammering into designers' heart, facing with people's uprising demand on environmental-friendly living condition. The research is based on thorough survey on the court architecture and landscape design in traditional Chinese constructions. In addition with the analysis of the court spatial organization, the interrelationship between court architecture and landscape is also discussed. Therefore a new design principle, which is compatible with China's contemporary culture and social condition, is generated. This article will also provide designers with another perspective towards urban design, which is to maximize the harmonious relationship between architecture, landscape, local condition and urban environment.
