Electronic strength testers can be used for many material parameters testing. Recently the field of material have a quick development, there are many new material coming out, meanwhile this require electronic strength testers to have new testing functions. But there is a problem that its testing function always lag behind the test's requirement of new material's property because of the fixed hardware function of electronic strength testers designed by traditional design mode , it has became encumbrance on the research of new material. We need new design mode imminently to breakthrough the bottleneck of testing technology which have existed for a long time. Just at the moment a new design mode have appeared which should make people exciting -virtual instruments technology. Its application on electronic strength testers should cause the technology revolution in this field. Application research in this field based on virtual instruments technology will be proceeded on the object of Shimadzu electronic strength testers AG-10 series in this thesis.In order to design new excellent test and control system of electronic strength testers, internal construction and performance parameter of macromolecule material which is the main object of instrument's test will be analyzed at first, then a series of standard test methods will be established. After analyzing of the functional fault of conventional system, the function of new system based on virtual instruments technology has been programmed. A solution will be proposed in new system in aspects of expandable design, the addition of new test parameter(internal consumption work) and function(tear test), optimization of human-machine interface, adjustment of data collection's frequency, the addition of data's process.Hardware system's design follow the principle "software is instruments" of virtual instruments technology and its structure will be predigested, let the function be integrated to the software as much as possible. The function of hardware system whose center is PLC of FPO series is simply drive direct current motor, collect and amplify signal of load and displacement, primary process and save the raw data. The software system will accomplish all the complicated process control, data process.The software design is the center of this thesis. Entire software system use LabVIEW as development environment which designed by National Instruments Corporation(NI), follow the principle of collectivity to part, adopt the method of modular design. Software system have 4 module: Initialization module of hardware system, test module of sample, integrated data processing module, file management module. The test module of sample also have single time tension test module, Circle test of definite elongation test module, Circle test of definite load test module, Stress relaxation test module, Tear test module. Meanwhile every module have followingsubmodule: Initialization module, Control module of movement, data collection module, Data processing and saving module, report generating module. The method of modular design can avoid interferences thoroughly among the different function module and make the whole system more stably.Through designing of software system's functions, entire system have interface for adding new function module which let the user add new function and make this instrument in a opening environment;The new parameter and function's test like internal consumption work, tear test etc have been established;the new function support series sets of data's processing and curve's plotting of relation of different parameter. The function of file management allow the user to manage the data files;The frequency of data collection's can be adjusted by the user;the parameter's result will be given through function of data process;the saving of raw data, curve and report's printing can be done by click the button one time;the user can read the help introduction during the process of tests.
