As the most important and most innovative phase of the whole process of the product design, conceptual design determines the quality of the final product even the success of the whole design in great measure. Fatherly, it is much difficult to remedy the defects coming forth during the conceptual design phase in the detailed design afterward.The purpose of this thesis is to study the conceptual design and the drive device of the mechatronic servo-system. Based on the analysis of the mechatronic coupling problems, a distributed coupling model of the mechatronic servo-system is given. Taking tracking & aiming servo-system as the study object, the effect of the mechanical structure on the performance of the servo-system is summarized. The procedure to determine the motor parameters is presented, which is pointed out to be the key to the decoupling in the mechatronic servo-system design. The conception of concurrent engineering is introduced into the conceptual design of the mechatronic servo-system, and the process model of conceptual design of mechatronic servo-system is given. Using Delphi as the main developing tool, motor selection software is developed. The calculation method of the natural mechanical characteristics of DC motor based on the nominal data given by the motor factory is provided. The mechanical characteristics and dynamic characteristics of a DC motor are simulated by the PSB module in Matlab, which provides a reference for selection the motor parameters.
