In this paper, on introducing the developing history of transformer substation inte-grated automation technology, and the tendency,research significance,advantageand the aspect of domestic and abroad about this technology, the structure,characte-ristic and requirement to realizing the transformer substation integrated automationsystem are illuminated. Next,the author researches the structure and characteristic ofhardware used in protection based on microprocessor, also comparing the protectionarithmetic in common use. As an important part of transformer substation integratedautomation system, communication network plays an important role in keeping inf-ormation transmission credible and rapid in substation both inside and outside. Itcan analyze and deal with the fault data, too. This text introduces the developing ten-dency of integrated substation automation communication network,varied commu-nication protocol and their characteristics,also compares communication forms,such as optical fiber communication,locale bus communication,wireless commun-ication etc. Finally,contraposing a engineering of 35,000-Voltage Level Substati-on,the author designs a transformer substation integrated automation system,inclu-ding protecting and supervisory equipment,communication network system in thesubstation . In the analysis of the typicality of integrated substation automation systemand design skill, the conclusion derived from analysis provides design guidelines forintegrated substation automation system.
