Model test is an important means to solve new structure and complicated problems, in model test, it is necessary to keep certain similarity between modeling material and prototype material. Actually, the modeling material used in model test can hardly keep perfect similarity with prototype material. The errors induced by the difference of material properties in model test are inevitable, and it is necessary to evaluate the affect of the difference to the outcome of model test.In this paper, two simple-supported beam models are built respectively according to the properties of concrete and reinforcement and the properties of microconcrete and model reinforcement, nonlinear analysis of the two models has been carried out. According to the comparison analysis of the results, we can get the information of the errors induced by the difference of material properties in model test. Two element models of a ten layer frame structure is built with the finite element program SAP2000, for which time history analysis are made with the same earthquake records as used in the shaking table test. Through the comparison analysis of the two element models we can get the affect of the difference of material properties to the dynamic characteristic and seismic responses of shaking table test model.Through the analysis above, the general conclusion about the errors induced by the difference of material properties in model test and also some suggestions are brought forward.
