Creating automatic supervision system is the trend of dam safety monitoring. However, the hardware integration technique in this field has much aspect worth researching and improving, compared to the gradually mature hardware integration technique in the industrial automation field. It is much significance for people's life and national economy to acquire the dam safety information and utilize modern hardware technique to establish high efficient dam safety monitoring system with long-time stability and high reliability under formidable natural conditions.Combining with practical project, the structure and hardware integration technique of dam safety monitoring system have been mainly studied, based on analysis of its applications. The main contents are as follows:(1) Merits and faults of feasibility/reliability/economical efficiency for three kind system structures are compared and analyzed. The optimum structure and function is constructed according to demand of practical project.(2) Based on the analysis of operating principle and technical characteristics of foreign facility, such as Geomation 2380MCU, Geokon 4500AL vibrating wire piezometers, the hardware integration technique of dam safety monitoring system was studied deeply.(3) The MCU, piezometers and fiber-optic communication were integrated to the hardware system with hardware integration technique. The acquisition program and diagnostic program were generated by Geonet configuration software. The accuracy, transfer speed and error rate of data were analysed.(4) The supervision system is optimum designed by fieldbus and wireless communication technique to improve its reliability and expandability further.
