CAD/CAM, which is one of the fastest developing technologies, is composed of many subjects and technologies. It not only changed the mode of production, but also accelerated the development of market. At present, CAD/CAM is being applied in many fields. According to the trait of the CAD/CAM, and combining with some experiments and knowledge of the handmade-ship design, some research is presented in the fields of theories and practices in this paper. Firstly, this paper reviewed the theories and applications of CAD/CAM. It relates to the concept, system ,geometric model, graph function, artwork of CAD, and the development of some new concepts and new technologies. In Chapter 3, the author introduces and discusses the theory of the curve and smooth surface. In Chapter 4, ship-design principle was researched. The author emphasized to introduce several transforming methods of changing methods of mother-ship. In Chapter 5, designing System for FRP Yacht, which is designed by author, is explained. In this chapter, the performance of software Visual Basic & Pro/Engineer is first to be introduced. Then, the author gives the idea of the Design System for FRP Yacht, the specific actualizing course, and the specific of using method and example demonstration. The program language is Visual Basic, and it can be used to create a file which can be used in Pro/E, and give out 3-D model. Using the 3-D model can give out the transversal cross curve at different section. The level of artwork will be improved in the shipyard. At last, the author summarizes the paper, points out the defects in the system, and gives out better ways. We hope to provide help and reference for the researchers who want to develop this system. The inputting interface of this system is proved simple and easy to operate, and it has a strong visualization. The results of this system are solid,intuitionistic, and very practicable. It is wished to play a significant role in the actual production.
