With the large-scale construction of the subway in China and the requirement of a better environment in station waiting rooms, the platform screen doors is widely in the subway now. The platform screen doors separate the platform and the subway running area, and reduce the heat losses greatly. So it can save much energy consumption of air-conditioning running, and has provided a more comfortable and convenient environment for the passenger at the same time. In this article, several aspects of platform screen doors are studied. Firstly, the constitution and function of the main mechanical parts are expounded, and the geometry design is carried on. The external loads on PSDs are investigated, and the working condition as well as the verification criterions are presented. The simulation modal is simplified by the presumption that all parts consist of panel units and beam units. The intensity and stiffness of the structure is checked.Secondly, the feasibility of several system concepts is studied, including open ventilation system, platform screen door system, open/closed system, and gives a brief analysis of the factors that effect the cool load in the subway station. Choose a typical subway station, the ventilation, cooling load and power consumption in the North, middle and south China subways are analyzed. In the computer fluid simulation, three-dimensional models of the typical station platform have been built, both velocity and temperature fields of the subway ventilation systems are simulated. Finally, the economy returns, safty, and environment improvements of PSDs in subway are presented, and its application prospect in subway station is put forward.
