High-type highways have been developed rapidly with the quick increasing of Chinese economy. Asphalt pavements have been widely used in highway construction, especially for those whose base course is semi-rigid type that have become typical pavement structure of Chinese high-type highway. In present, highway transportation share a big proportion in national economy development, and traffic and axle weight are larger and larger which put forward higher requirement to the structural requirement of asphalt pavement and construction quality level. Although the asphalt pavement structure design and construction controlling technique have made big progress in China for many years, several aspects still retain in period depending on experience and introducing equipment because research area is more limited in structure and material and the research of construction procedure is not regarded enough. According to the observation of construction process and the road condition changing of built highway section, some obvious questions have been discovered commonly in asphalt pavement in high grade highway after used for certain years (shorter than design life).Through comparing with the usage condition of run high-type highway, author analyzes the pavement structure composing, using condition, water damage and its reasons in detail on the basis of her experience and problems treated during engaging in the construction and management of asphalt pavement in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region for many years. Consulting related literature and combining with the usage requirement, traffic magnitude and composing for high-type highway as well as weather, natural environment, supporting condition for subgrade, material supplement, construction and maintenance capability, financing, environment protection and so on, the author prevents some measures and points for attention to rationallyprevent and cure water damage on asphalt pavement and enhance the applicability and maneuverability of prevention and cure measures on high-type highway in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Thus possible random and factitious orientation can be furthest decreased so as to reduce the early damage of pavement, prevent unnecessary economy losses and extend the using life of pavement.
