Water damage in highway asphalt concrete pavement is one of the major diseases of highway, affected the normal use of highway seriously and caused tremendous direct and indirect economic losses. This paper use the methods of test and theoretical analysis, study on tests to evaluate the water stability of asphalt mixture, the effects of hydrated lime and cement to improve the water stability of asphalt mixture, comprehensive measures to control water damage. The results show, controlling percent air voids in bituminous by controlling hit number is a simple and easy way to improve the correlation of Marshall Specimen and actual road, this test method will cause increased error in the freeze-thaw split test, hydrated lime and cement have a certain degree of improvement to the water stability of asphalt mixtures, hydrated lime's long-term effect is better, proposal promoting the use of hydrated lime in project, prevent and control the water damage effectively need to take comprehensive measures. The study provides reference for highway construction sector to prevent and control the water damage.
