With the increase of the height of building, internal force and displacement under horizontal loading will rapidly increase. Enough buried depth of the foundation can assure the stability of the foundation and prevent sliding and overturning. Generally speaking, the high-rise buildings are equipped with basement in order to satisfy the need of the use function and full use the space of foundation. But the study on the design of basement wall is not enough. Each design has much different amount of reinforcement in basement wall. This paper extensively researches the design of basement wall of the high-rise buildings. The primary work in the paper is done as following:1. Applying classic theory on earth pressure to analyze composite loadings and calculative loadings of the basement wall.2. Researching the calculation of the basement wall under different boundary and pointing out appropriate calculative model and the corresponding boundary based on the real boundary of the engineering.3. Choosing two boundary conditions to arrange the design program to calculate reinforcement of the basement wall.4. Choosing different height and width of the basement wall and different height of underground water to calculate reinforcement of the basement wall and analyzing its influence on reinforcement. The research proves that the width of basement wall is the key to inside reinforcement and the height of basement wall has more influence on outside reinforcement than the height of underground water and the width of basement wall have less influence on outside reinforcement.
