The Research On Behavior Of Rigid Pile Composite Foundation Under Horizontal Load

Rigid pile composite foundation has been in great use these years, and it hasbeen used under tall buildings in some areas. Great social and economic benefit hasbeen gained. But the behavior of composite foundation under horizontal loadbecomes very complicate due to the application of cushion. Study is carried on thebehavior of composite foundation under horizontal load based on experiments andnumeric analysis method, and such work as follows has been done:A brief introduction about current rigid pile composite foundation research ismade and the problems which are urgent to be solved currently is analyzed. Basedon the experiments we made a study. Total 6 groups of test have been conducted,and a comprehensive measurement had been taken on the pile head, pile body andthe top of cushion of composite foundation. Then, the effects of different verticalload and thickness of cushion on horizontal displacements of pile head, pile bodyand the top of cushion under horizontal load are analyzed by using 3D FiniteElement Method. Finally, the interaction mechanism of foundation-cushion-pileunder horizontal load is disclosed.Through the study, it can be found that the variation of cushion thickness has asignificant effect on horizontal displacement of pile head. The horizontaldisplacement becomes less with the increasing of the thickness of cushion. Thevariation of vertical load can also affect the horizontal displacement of pile head.Under the same horizontal load, the horizontal displacement of the pile headbecomes less when the vertical load increases. Also, the vertical load can affect thehorizontal displacement at the top of cushion.
