In the present dissertation, the technical developing tunnel and the theories of tunnel lining design history are introduced. Application and research of segment in recent years are summarized. Base on this t the mechanical characteristics of plane segment joint, segment joint with rectangle tenon and segment joint with circle tenon are analyzed entirely by FEM method with load N+M or N+V. Through the research of N+M load , the curve function of open angel and appending M until destroying is given ,through this the relationship of bending rigidity-M is calculated. The distribution of press stress is provided too. Through the research of N+V load , the curve function of the changing of the relative positions of the two part of joint and appending V until destroying is given ,through this curve the relationship of bending rigidity-M is calculated. The distribution of shearing strength is provided too.Studying of segment joint's mechanical characteristic showed that tenon and buffer having greater influence with resisting shearing force V and moment M. Taking joints as mechanical components, referencing the idea of machinery optimization. Optimization Design module of ANSYS is utilized to analysis geometric parameter joint's buffer or tenon. Relationship of geometric parameters connecting the intensity, rigidity and stress concentration degree is then presented.
