In this paper, the research is mainly carried out on fault diagnosis of the large-scale reducer in petroleum chemical trade, which is extracted from the project of Yanshan petrochemica Co. and Institution of Vibration Engineering of Dalian University of Technology. The factory carried out fault diagnosis termly before. Though it have a certain good effect, when not diagnosed in time, it will bring serious economic loss. To aid this problem, A total design project has been put forward, which is based on the fault diagnosis technology, Virtual Instrument technology, database technology, etc. It solved the problem that is caused by diagnosing out of time or over maintenance.In this paper, Frequent fault diagnosis of the reducer are generalized through a great deal fault-cases of reducer were collected, and the fault mechanism and the vibration characteristics of the pivotal parts of gear and bearing are introduced in detail. in the mean while, the methods of vibration signal analysis and fault diagnosis for these components are discussed.The key technologies for developing this system are discussed in detail in chanter 3. technologies, including Virtual Instrument, database, DLL, ADO, etc. on one hand, it taking advantage of the superiority of Virtual Instrument platform on data collection, instrument control-, signal analysis, signal display, etc; On the other hand, with the growth of the data in fault diagnosis, it proposes the application of database, ORACLE, to make the system with good management by database.The design and implementation of the whole system are discussed and investigated in chanter 4. State monitoring and Fault Diagnosis of reducer apparatus is realized. State monitoring module can scout and log the work state of the equipment and alarm when the equipment works abnormally. database management module, including data saving and query, fault-cases saving and query, transmission and bearing data management and fault characteristic parameters configuration, etc. Fault diagnosis module contains auto-diagnosis module and manual-diagnosis. The resonance demodulation technique and cepstrum module , which is used frequently on reducer diagnosis are presented elaborately.Finally, through the monitoring and diagnosis on the reducer in Rubber Factory of Yanshan Petrochemical Co, the system obtains significant diagnostic results. It confirms that the system is feasibility and practicality on the diagnosis of reducer.
