As a new type of light steel structure, new type of light-gauge steel structure has been adopted abroad widely as a kind of architecture form and just has been developed later in our country these years. Depending on the whole series of technique and building material product line of Occident countries, most of domestic corporations product and assemble the residences at home. Because of the existing obvious differences between the principle and methods of design and application in overseas and that in homeland, it is quite necessary for us to research the load bearing performance of this structure in theory and experiment aspect.In this paper on the basis of experiments, the lateral resistance behavior of new type of light-gauge steel composite wall is researched, and thirteen full-scale wall specimens are tested on their behavior under cycle lateral loadings. In this paper we also aspects on the problem of new type of light-gauge steel composite wall as below:1. Commonly, the skeleton of new type of light-gauge steel structure bears most of lateral loadings, but it has been discovered from the experiments that the skeleton can't resist this lateral loadings alone.2. In the experiments of cover surface's structural panel composite wall, we have discovered that the resistant capacity on lateral loadings is promoted remarkably.3. The behavior of resisting lateral loadings of wall mostly depends on the tension rods and cover surface's structural panels, the number of them will effect the behavior of resisting lateral loadings remarkably.4. On the basis of summarizing the results of the experiments, a kind of calculating method is put forward in this paper. The results by contrast of experiments and calculating reveal that the calculating method is feasible.Some problem about this research that is worth to be investigated further are put up in the end of the paper.
