With the improvement of automation in mechanical manufacturing industry ,it is more and more important to develop CAD technique. However the mechanical CAD software is scare in our country in the present, which have independent knowledge copyright. On the reason of above mentioned the gear transmission CAD system was explored in this paper which including:Depending on mechanical design theory, develop the gear parametrical design techniques.About straight tooth cylinder gear, in the first, input the known parameters,CAD system will calculate and design all the gear parameter and test the parameters, then design fluctuant modulus, finally draw a pair of transmission gears. The transmission CAD system also includes diagonal tooth cylinder gear and straight tooth taper gear transmission CAD system. The theory of three dimension gear system is: gear involute is based on involute equation , firstly calculate the points on the invoute, secondly connect all the points and draw the involute tooth outline, thirdly establish two dimension region, lastly extrude the region to form three dimension gear solid. In the paper I explore optimize design with random direction method. Goal function is least volume. Design variables are little gear'tooth number, modulus, gear breadth, little gear shaft'diameter and big gear shaft' diameter. The command empolded with ObjectARX can be used as command of CAD self. It is more convenient with menu. The paper customize the AutoCAD2002 menu.Drawing initialization system can automatically choose drawing draw paper frame and draw title bar.The paper is only a part of gear transmission CAD system. We will explore other types of gear, consummate and upgrade the system in the future.
