In recent years, the amount and kind of waterway dangerous goods are increasing rapidly with the development in our national economy and foreign trade. Port administrations come to pay more attention to the problems on how to establish a safe and strict management system, which can manage dangerous cargo effectively. Especially after Jan 1,2004, Port Law, Regulations of Dangerous Goods in Port and Regulations of Supervisory Administration for Dangerous Goods on Board took effect at the same time. These adjusted the administration of dangerous goods transportation, and brought great challenges to dangerous goods ships.Dangerous goods have particularities of numerous kinds, different characters and great danger. There are many regulations on transportation, which need much professional knowledge. So, it is much necessary to build a management information system dealing with the information of dangerous goods. We can use such system to manage complicated data quite efficiently and exactly.This thesis analyzes the status quo and the developing direction of dangerous goods management information system. And then it introduces many computer technologies and their application methods, such as J2EE, decision support system (DSS), data warehouse, OLAP, and data mining.Port Dangerous Goods Management and Intelligent Decision System Based on Internet, an example of integration of MIS, DSS and Internet. This thesis analyzes the feasibility and superiority of this system, and put emphasis on the design and implementation of data warehouse model, DSS, and DSS application programs.
