Gas face seals (GFS) is being applied more and more in the important industry departments, such as petroleum, natural gas, chemical and aircraft industry. But in domestic, the theoretical analysis is rare and the process technology falls behind so that the domestic markets of gas face seals are occupied by the foreign companies. In order to change this state, the study of GFS is no time to delay. This dissertation systematically studies the performances of GFS involved in steady-state performance, the effects of SGGFS parameters, the process technology of spiral groove and the rebuilding of the test-bed.The L-shape groove gas face seals are new shape seal.It has been applied in engineering more and more. The L-shape groove gas face seals can rotary in two way and avoid destroying the seals because of reversal. On the basis of spiral shape and T-shape groove, this dissertation offers L-shape groove finite element method for the steady-state performance analysis and gives the better geometry parameter. In the analysis of the steady-state performance, the control equatioan is deduced. And the calculating software of different groove gas face is designed. By comparing the calculating results of this dissertation with the results of literature and the experiment, the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the calculating software is proved. This dissertation discusses the effects of various GFS parameters (geometry parameters and operating parameters) on the seal performances. Some universal laws are drawn which can guide the engineering design.Through a lot of experiments, this dissertation discusses and analyse gas film thickness and leak amout of T-shape groove,L-shape groove and L-shape ladder groove gas face seals. A "DASP" system was used to collect the experiment data, and the experiment results were analyzed by "Origin" software. In a word, by deeply studying the performances of GFS, this dissertation offers theoretical support for the engineering design and application.
