Spiral groove gas face seals (SGGFS) is being applied more and more in the important industry departments, such as petroleum, natural gas, chemical and aircraft industry. This dissertation studies the distortion and leak of SGGFS and the interrelated experiment.In the analysis of the distortion of SGGFS, three-dimensional model is created and the balance equation is deduced. The accurate result is acquired by programme of finite element method.This dissertation studies the distortion of the sealing ring which was brought by pressure, the distortion which was produced by thermal and the distortion which was aroused by pressure and thermal. And the effect of material of the sealing ring is studied. The instructional conclusion to the engineering design is showed. In addition, the relation of the leak and distortion is also discussed.This dissertation validates the result of the distortion of SGGFS by experiment.In a word, by studying the dirtortion of SGGFS, this dissertation offers theoretical support for the engineering design and application. And a solid theoretical basis is made for the further.
