With the rapid development of the road traffic, many long and very long tunnels have been constructed or in plan. Tunnels indeed bring a lot of conveniences to road traffic; on the other hand, tunnels cause a series of operational problems. Tunnel fire is one of the most important problems. As the tunnel structure has some particularities, narrow and comparatively close, there are many differences between the tunnel fires and the building fires. Once the funnel fires happened, it would produce a lot of smoke and other toxic gases. Many tunnel fire incidents show most people died from smoke choking and toxic gases. Ventilation plays a key role during the time of the fire because ventilation can control the smoke diffusing direction and produces a clean way for evacuation. Tunnel ventilation is one of the hot research points in the world. It is necessary to establish fire schemes for long and very long tunnels. The semi-transverse ventilation system and fire smoke control of the Mount Zhegu tunnel, which is a single bi-directional tunnel and locates in NO. 317 highway, is studied. The ventilation network is applied to tunnel ventilation and one-dimensional integrated study about Mount Zhegu tunnel is carried on. The results of the one-dimensional are used as the boundary conditions of the three-dimensional CFD study. The three-dimensional simulation of the fire smoke diffusing using CFD software is also carried on. The numerical computation is validated by the ventilation experiment The smoke diffusing rule is elicited and the ventilation schemes in the case of the Mount Zhegu tunnel fire are established. The results of the fan should how to work and the across routeways should how to be opened or closed in the variable cases of fires are presented. The scientific method to the semi-transverse ventilation system is provided, and which has an instructional significance to other similar systems design.
