On the basis of study on seismic behaviors of recycled concrete frame and practical engineering, we have performed a group of trials on four reinforce concrete frames under low reversed cyclic lateral loading in this paper. The designed strength grade of concrete used in trials is C30, and the replacement ratio of recycled aggregate is 0%, 30%, 50% and 100% separately. The result of trials reveals that characteristic loading of recycled concrete frames are slightly lower than that of normal concrete frame, which can influence seismic behavior of frame little, however, recycled concrete frames have performed good ductility and energy dissipation that can satisfy the request of seismic design of engineering.Computer simulations on all reinforced concrete frames under low reversed cyclic lateral loading have been performed via ANSYS—a great finite element analysis program—on the basis of non-linear finite element analysis theory on recycled concrete. In the procession of the simulation, Von-Mises yield criterion and bilinear isotropic hardening stress-strain relationship have been used for steel bar, synchronously the William-Warnke failure criterion and elastic-plastic stress-strain relationship have been used for concrete. Two kind of finite element model (separate and integer for concrete and bar ) have been established to simulate the behaviors of frame under low reversed cyclic lateral loading and monotonic loading separately. The results of nonlinear finite element analysis can show the stress distribution in all parts of frame, moreover it provides the possibility to patch up the defects that details can't be observed in experiments visually. And then influences on frame behaviors of various factors such as recycled aggregate replacement ratio and axial compression force ratio can be analyzed. The feasibility and reliability of applying existing nonlinear finite element analysis method and ANSYS for the analysis of seismic behavior of recycled concrete frame can be verified through the comparison between theoretical analyses and trial results, which will provide basis for further study on seismic behavior of recycled concrete frame. The fact is that theoretical analyses are consistent with trial results, therefore the results of theoretical analysescan be used for the basis of engineering design.
