| Design process, especially for a complicated mechanical product, is very complicated, in order to optimize a product and design a product appropriately, many design methods and technologies are adopted to achieve the target. With the development of computer science and network technology, Computer Supported Collaborative Design (CSCD) is developing from theory research to application.As an important component of Collaborative Design System, permission management is a powerful tool to configure user's operation purview, and it guarantees the system operated continuously and steadily. Many function modules were set based on the requirements of the System, and permission management is related with all the function modules. Each function module can be used properly through the management of permission. Because collaborative design is a whole new working style with itself characteristics, it is put forward higher demands of permission management. In this thesis, it is researched that permission management with role based access control model in Collaborative Design System through surveying in enterprises and analyzing the characteristics of the system. The main content of this thesis includes:(1) It is discussed that the concept and working pattern of Computer Supported Collaborative Design deeply, and explained that the different requirements for permission management combine with the characteristics of each function module.(2) many patterns of user management are introduced, the role described based access control models in detail, especially the concepts of user, role and permission, and the relationship and difference between the 4 models of RBAC96 also introduced(3) Through the discussion above, it is analyzed that the characteristics of permission management in Collaborative Design System.
