| Widely applied in soft soil foundation, complex foundation and lock head, the castle shiplock (also called U-frame shiplock) has many advantages: the better antiseepage capability, the lower requirement for foundation bearing capacity due to the even distribution of the soil pressure, etc. However, some investigations show there are many floor concrete cracks in the soleplates, varying from superficial and deep-seated cracks to penetrating cracks which is threatening the safe operation. There are many factors accounting for the cracks, such as the complicated condition of foundation and unreasonable construction methods, etc. Based on the nonlinear finite element simulation analysis,the paper discussed the influence of different construction methods on lock head floor concrete's stress state. First, the paper discussed the influence of setting up construction joints on lock head floor concrete's stress state, which is constructed on the soft soil foundation. And it is concluded that this construction method can improve the stress state of the lock head floor greatly and is effective measure to prevent floor concrete cracking. Second, the paper discussed the influence of setting up construction joints on lock head floor concrete's stress state, which is constructed on the rock foundation. The conclusion is that setting up construction joints is effective greatly to decrease the stress and is necessary to lock head floor constructed on the rock foundation. Last, the paper discussed the effect of other some temperature control measures and crack resistance measures. The main conclusion had been adopted in design and construction and good effect had been achieved. So, the conclusion will be referred for the design and construction of similar shiplock henceforth. |
